WORLD TEACHERS DAY

World Teachers’ Day (WTD) 2025 will be celebrated on 5th October 2025 under the theme ‘recasting teaching as a collaborative profession’. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, teachers’ unions, development partners, and other education stakeholders, is coordinating activities to mark the occasion.

The WTD event will provide a platform to:

01

Recognize and reward teachers who have distinguished themselves in various fields;
02

Create awareness among teachers, stakeholders and the public on the steps taken by TSC and the Government to uplift the professional status of teachers;
03

Demonstrate the efforts by TSC and the Government to improve the Terms and Conditions of Service for Teachers;
04

Promote collaboration, partnership and harmony among stakeholders;
05

Increase the brand visibility of the Commission through disseminating messages in support of the role of teachers.

Why is the Teachers Service Commission involved ?

As the constitutional body mandated to manage the human resource in the teaching service, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) plays a central role in shaping the future of education in Kenya.

Our commitment to teachers goes beyond recruitment and deployment it extends to celebrating their contributions, supporting their growth, and advocating for their recognition at national and global levels.

On World Teacher’s Day, we join the global community in expressing appreciation for teachers and reinforcing our dedication to creating an environment where educators thrive.

In line with our theme of, the TSC is leading a nationwide tree planting initiative to commemorate World Teacher’s Day where teachers are encouraged to plant a tree a day (fruit trees) from 29th September to 5th October 2025.

The teachers will register in the jaza miti app and use elimu tree platform to record and monitor the exercise. Trees symbolize life, growth, and the future just like teachers, who nurture young minds and shape the leaders of tomorrow.

This initiative is part of a broader national effort to combat climate change, protect our environment, and instill a culture of responsibility in the next generation. Each tree planted is a living tribute to the role teachers play in building a sustainable Kenya.
